About Us

VON IMP is a closed cattery on the East Coast of New Zealand.  We have a small number of breeding cats as we want first of all for our cats to have a good life. Our breeding cats are also our much-loved pets and we spend a lot of time playing with them.

Health and wellbeing of our cats is our first priority and all our cats are tested/screened for genetic diseases.  We do not keep our cats in cages, and they all have access to a safe outdoor playground. We are very lucky to have access to fresh meat and we feed our cats on a raw meat diet.

We aim to have only one litter a year per queen and retire our cats young - if you are interested to give a loving home to one of our retired cats please contact us and we'll keep you on our list!

We live on a large property, far away from any roads and some of our neutered cats are allowed to ‘roam’, however, they never go too far from the house. Our boys live in wonderful stud cottages, with large runs attached, in our orchard. Boys that do not spray are allowed to visit us in the house. Even boys that spray can join for a movie night as long as they don't object to wearing a g-string with a pad ;). Our queens live in the house with us, where they bring up their kittens. Our ragdolls come in seal, blue, lilac and chocolate colours, and all ragdoll patterns (colourpoint, bi-colour and mitted), as well as lynx (tabby) markings.

Please visit our INFO page to learn more about the ancient Turkish Angora breed. We are so excited to introduce this amazingly beautiful and elegant cat into New Zealand! Both NZCF and Catz Inc have already accepted our first imported turkish angora cats to be registered!

Our cattery name is registered with: NZCFCATZ INCCFA and TICA.

All our kittens are born in our bedroom and will stay with us till they open their eyes and start crawling around. Then they move to a kitten room which is attached to the bedroom. Till they are fully litter trained they will stay in this enclosure (mother will still go for a walk all over the house). Once they are litter trained they are ready to take over the house:
